Dear Campus Community,

As Sonoma State continues to move forward, expanded focus and support for essential operations and relationships is critical. Toward that goal, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Eyler, Senior Director of Government and Community Relations, has agreed to serve as Interim Vice President for University Advancement while the search for a permanent Advancement vice president gets underway.

Rob is a well-known and highly respected economist whose expertise is sought by institutions and organizations from all over the country and the world. As a professor of economics here since 1995, he is one of Sonoma State’s most familiar faces and sought-after speakers, and is an invaluable resource both in the government relations realm and in long-standing engagement with our communities, where his own family’s roots date to the early 20th century.

As Interim Advancement VP, Rob will oversee development, alumni affairs, marketing, strategic communications, and operations. He has worked closely for many years with every member of the Advancement leadership team and many of their staff, and has already hit the ground running as the university takes bold steps on multiple initiatives.

Please join me in congratulating Rob on his appointment and in supporting the entire Advancement team as its essential work continues during the search for a permanent vice president.

Dear Campus Community,

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful winter break. An exciting new semester has just begun, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish at Sonoma State in the months ahead.

Seawolves across the pond

Dear Campus Community,

Dear Campus Community,

As we near Thanksgiving, I’m especially thankful for the tenacity and the empathy our students, faculty and staff have shown throughout the fall. In addition to the Kincade fire, two distinct regional power outages and campus closures have challenged our Sonoma State community since the start of the academic year.

Dear Campus Community,

Greetings, Seawolves, and welcome back for the start of the 2019-20 academic year at Sonoma State.

It is so good to have us all together again, and to welcome our new students, faculty and staff to campus. The semester is just a few days old, and we already have a host of memories to share and things to celebrate, including:

Dear Campus Community,

Dear Campus Community Members,

Dear Campus Community,

Members of our Campus Community,

As we approach the start of the spring semester, I want to wish you all a happy new year. We are grateful for the rain and for new beginnings. But, most of all, we are grateful for you – students, faculty and staff alike – who bring our campus to life and embody the promise of another transformational year at Sonoma State University.
