Dear Campus Community,
As Sonoma State continues to move forward, expanded focus and support for essential operations and relationships is critical. Toward that goal, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Eyler, Senior Director of Government and Community Relations, has agreed to serve as Interim Vice President for University Advancement while the search for a permanent Advancement vice president gets underway.
Rob is a well-known and highly respected economist whose expertise is sought by institutions and organizations from all over the country and the world. As a professor of economics here since 1995, he is one of Sonoma State’s most familiar faces and sought-after speakers, and is an invaluable resource both in the government relations realm and in long-standing engagement with our communities, where his own family’s roots date to the early 20th century.
As Interim Advancement VP, Rob will oversee development, alumni affairs, marketing, strategic communications, and operations. He has worked closely for many years with every member of the Advancement leadership team and many of their staff, and has already hit the ground running as the university takes bold steps on multiple initiatives.
Please join me in congratulating Rob on his appointment and in supporting the entire Advancement team as its essential work continues during the search for a permanent vice president.

Dear Campus Community,
As we continue shaping the future of the California State University through our systemwide strategic planning process, your insights and perspectives remain vitally important. We are entering the second phase of stakeholder engagement and invite and strongly encourage you to participate in one of our upcoming virtual town hall sessions to share your thoughts on the future direction of the CSU.
Because attendance at the Town Hall scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 30 is expected to surpass the capacity of any campus facility, the meeting will instead be held virtually. This will allow a much larger number of participants, ensuring all who wish to attend can do so comfortably.
A webinar link will be shared later this week with instructions about how to ask questions.
I hope you will attend.
Dear Campus Community,
I am excited to continue the dialogue around the system-wide CSU Strategic Plan, which is central to shaping the future of our university system. This collective effort depends on your input, creativity, and collaboration.
Dear Sonoma State University Community:
I’d like to take this opportunity to provide additional information about our continued commitment to institutional equity and belonging. The September 10 message informed our Seawolf community that our diversity, equity and inclusion programs, initiatives and leadership would transfer to Dr. Gerald L. Jones, Vice President for Student Affairs.
